Wind Farm Control Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities Execute wind turbine controls system and software development Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and develop comprehensive requirements for wind turbine software features and components Develop test cases and perform controls software validation Create engineering documentation, including bills of material, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing & field instructions As part of the broader control system design, interface with the turbine controls team and to incorporate operability requirements into the plant controller design Support new product developments for new grid feature introduction (voltage control, frequency control, ramp rate control, power curtailment, etc.) supporting the new unit business and service Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters Contribute to the continuous improvement of the controller development and grid simulation infrastructure Occasionally travel to site to support product testing and/or customer issues Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited University Desired Characteristics Experience in an engineering position dealing with controls and electrical and electronic system design Fluency in English Masters of Science Degree in Controls Engineering, Computer, Electrical Engineering or related discipline Experience in design and/or modeling of controls systems Familiar with electrical grid operation and power systems control Strong analytical approach to problem solving Experience with the grid market including renewable integration and required services Highly motivated, self-starter, energetic, positive, flexible in changing environments Ability to demonstrate a structured approach to problem solving, learning agility Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in project teams in an international environment Solid understanding of programming basics Wind Turbine Technology Experience is a strong plus but not required Experience with Model-Based Design techniques using Mathworks Simulink or comparable tool
